An amazing result for Greens across Leicestershire as the County gets its first ever Green Councillors

3 May 2019

Yesterdays local elections have marked a step change in local poitics where the Green party has moved from being a fringe party to the definitive 4th party in English politics.

Here in Market Harborough we had a great result in Welland ward missing out on a seat by 46 votes and we would like to thank the residents of the ward for their support.

Looking at the wider picture the party had a wonderful result across the County securing our first ever seat, not only that but 4 seats in 4 different councils plus another in Rutland.

The seats won are

  • Muxlow - Blaby
  • East Goscote - Charnwood
  • Uppingham - Rutland
  • Ashby Castle- NW Leicestershire
  • Dorian - Melton

A big thankyou must go out to all of our wonderful candidates and the support teams that have brought them this far.

The shortfall of votes was as follows

Jamie Ackerley             Market Harborough – Logan                                    -246
